87 – River Ithon – Lower Cellws Farm

Brief description of fishery:

Barbless hooks, all Trout and grayling to be returned. Maggots may be used on and between 15th September to 14th March.
Take care when crossing electrified fences. The ordnance survey map suggests that some areas of the land are very wet. The venue consists of left bank only, approximately 1.37 miles

A small River with a mixture of shallow and deeper holes. Includes a number of good bends. This stretch is suitable for fly fishing all year round. Once mid September arrives, standard coarse fishing tactics come into their own.

Main species: Trout, grayling, chub, dace. Trout Season 3rd March to 25th October
Accessibility good. Generally very open banks.

Access & Parking

Lower Cellws can be located on the A483, 1.7 miles from the Crossgates island or 0.7 miles from Llandrindod Wells.Turn into the gateway and drive under the railway bridge. On entering the farm yard bear left immediately after the bungalow and before the barns. Drive approximately 250 yards along the track to a large barn. Parking is just past the barn on the right by the WSP sign. Access to the river is as indicated on the map.
