Brief description of fishery:
No fish to be retained, taken or introduced. No fishing at the top end of the lake. Fishing from the platforms only along the dam wall. This venue will be open during the Close season. Please note that sound carries very easily across the reservoir. Be mindful not to cause disturbance. This reservoir is joint owned by the Club and Cofton Lake Conservation Ltd. Residents who have contributed to the purchase of the site have the right to walk around the lake. The Club have exclusive fishing rights. Some of the Conservation Group will purchase cards from the Club to fish this venue only. The reservoir is very deep in parts, up to eighteen feet at the dam end. Under no circumstances should children be allowed on the site unsupervised. There are wooden stages set around the dam wall and far edge of the pool. Please exercise great care when using them. Do not disturb the badger’s sets on the far side of the reservoir. Canal & Rivers Trust maintain the right to take off water to maintain other water levels. The dam wall slopes away at around 40 degrees. Then around the 10’ depth mark the slope is around 30 degrees. At the top of the reservoir the bottom is fairly flat all the way across. There is a ‘No Fishing’ area at the top of the lake due to submerged obstructions. There is a bridge across the dam and across the top of the lake
Main species: Roach, chub, bream, rudd, tench, carp, crucian carp and perch.
Accessibility good but a long walk around the perimeter path.
Key points: There is a combination padlock and the number will be changed at the beginning of each season and notified in the Club Card. No keepnets. Barbless hooks only. Up to two rods may be used all year round. Fishing from dawn, until the time displayed on the clock in the car park. No night fishing except for pre-booked Night Fishing Syndicate members. No fishing at the top of the lake. UNHOOKING MATS MUST BE USED AT ALL TIMES. Do not attempt to cross the marsh at the top of the lake except by means of the footbridge. See the notice board for information and details. Be careful on the tracks and pathways beware of tripping. Dogs must be kept under control at all times.
